Publication Ethics

The editorial policy of the “Ukrainian Psychological Journal” is based on the principles of objectivity and impartiality in the selection of scientific material for publication.

Double-blind peer review of manuscripts and high standards for the quality of scientific research ensure a competitive level of content. The Editorial Board guarantees compliance with Authors’ and related rights and maintains communication with the Authors.

The Editorial Board in its activities adheres to the Recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the norms of the Civil Code of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine "On Copyright and Related Rights", the Law of Ukraine "On Education", as well as the ethical principles contained in the Statute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the Ethical Code of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, including in particular the equality of all genders and authors for the Chief Editor, Editorial Board, and Reviewers; confidentiality; originality of submissions and detection of plagiarism; and conflicts of interest.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject materials that do not comply with the standards of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, as well as the requirements for publications in scientific periodicals registered in international scientometric databases.

Since 2026 “Ukrainian Psychological Journal” provides information about conflict of interest in the format “Author is an editor-in-chief (member of editorial board) and thus did not participate in reviewing and decision-making regarding publishing this article” when publishing articles by editor-in-chief or members of editorial board. The specified moments are taken into account during process of appointment of reviewers of such articles.

“Ukrainian Psychological Journal” demands authors to receive a mandatory conclusion regarding research, which is conducted with involvement of people, animals, or their biological materials, personal or confidential data, and are subject to respective laws of Ukraine. Research with involvement of people, animals. and their biomaterials must obligatory undergo an examination and receive a conclusion (permission) from Commission on ethical questions.This is regulated by Laws of Ukraine “Fundamentals of healthcare legislation”, “On personal data protection”, “On the protection of animals from cruelty”.

Major provisions of this policy

Research on humans: Clinical trials and biomedical research requires a mandatory conclusion of ethical commission attached to healthcare/scientific facility.

Research on animals: Usage of animals for scientific purposes is regulated by demands of bioethics, and demand a prior approval.

Personal/confidential data: Processing of data (of medical information, biomaterials) requires written consent of a respective subject and protection according to valid laws.

Responsibility: Absence of conclusion of ethical commission makes research illegitimate, and its results – unsuitable for use.

“Ukrainian Psychological Journal” reminds authors, that violation of this norms provides administrative and criminal responsibility.
