Principles of Responsible Assessment
The editorial practices of the “Ukrainian Psychological Journal” embody the recommendations and approaches set out in the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA).
Therefore, the Editorial Board adheres to the general DORA recommendation: Do not use journal-based metrics, such as Journal Impact Factors, as a surrogate measure of the quality of individual research articles. The journal applies the following DORA approaches:
- Presents a range of article metrics in the context of various journal metrics (e.g., 5-year Impact Factor, EigenFactor, SCImago, h-index, editorial and publication times, etc.) to provide a more comprehensive view of the journal.
- Makes a range of article-level metrics available to encourage a shift toward assessment based on the scientific content of an article rather than the publication metrics of the journal in which it was published.
- Promotes responsible authorship practices and the provision of information about the specific contribution of each author.
- Has no restrictions on the reuse of reference lists in research articles and makes them available under the Creative Commons Public Domain Dedication.
- Does not require, where appropriate, the citation of original research instead of review articles, in order to credit the group(s) who first reported the findings.
- Recognizes and accepts diverse scientific outputs for publication, not just articles.
Adherence to FAIR Principles
The Editorial Board of “Ukrainian Psychological Journal” is convinced that all research-related data should be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR).
We ask authors to store the data underlying their research in appropriate repositories. We encourage authors to assess research data using the following tools:

The editors advise authors to manage research data, in particular, to create a Data Management Plan using templates (https://lnu.se/en/medarbetare/researcher/researcher5/Research-data/, https://dmponline.dcc.ac.uk/, https://dmptool.org/) and adhere to it to avoid data distortion during the research process.
Research Data Deposit Policy
“Ukrainian Psychological Journal” encourages open access to research data associated with publications.
“Ukrainian Psychological Journal” requires authors to deposit research-related data in the institutional repository eKNUTSHIR, or any other subject or general repository (registry of repositories – https://www.re3data.org/), as depositing datasets in a repository ensures long-term preservation and the assignment of persistent identifiers (e.g., DOI).
Citations to all published datasets should be included in the article metadata. The Editorial Board encourages authors to describe research datasets according to principles and, where possible, ensure their availability under open license (CC BY).
Open Science Policy
“Ukrainian Psychological Journal” supports the principles of Open Science, which encompass the practices of:
- Early and open sharing of research.
- Research output management.
- Ensuring reproducibility of results.
- Open access to research outputs.
The editors encourage authors to adhere to ethical principles during data collection and use, and to apply proper citation. The journal implements Open Science principles by adhering to fair peer review practices, conducting transparent editorial processes, and promoting openness and reproducibility of research results.
